In a new Target Gallery exhibition, artists were challenged to express themselves in a work of art that is no larger than five inches in any direction. 5×5(x5) is an all-media exhibition featuring little works that make a big impact.

Juror Statement by Kayleigh Bryant-Greenwell
Pop culture, figurative drawing, landscape views, still life observation, and abstraction collide in an exhibition of small works with big impact. Each artwork selected presents keen aesthetic choices as well as technique in working small. These small works in all media present a vast array of context – from engagement with art practice itself, to awareness of community issues.
Artists from around the country and abroad present a sample of prevailing art today. It’s easy to simplify open-call juried exhibits as surveys of current art trends. But throughout the jurying process I felt that the works selected most reflected a study of more than basic art trends. I kept feeling as if I was scrolling the internet for the zeit geist of a range of topics in contemporary culture – from issues of race to issues of sexuality. This juried show is so much more than a survey in current art appreciation, it’s a study of modernity across many voices.
